Have an '05 F150 XL 5.4L, instrument cluster w/o a tach. Can I swap it out with an FX4 or an XLT cluster w/ a tach??? Please advise

I have the XL too. I tried swapping. The dome light did not work after and some idiot lights did not work. I have a cluster for sale if you are interested, cluster has 33,000 miles on it. The mileage stays in the cluster not the truck computer.

Did you have the dealer program the As Built Data from your truck into the new instrument cluster? Some stuff may not work if you don't have it programed.

I had read the same thing on other sites. In every thread I have read though, everyone is swapping xlt clusters for fx4 clusters, tach for tach. Have yet to run across anyone who swapped xl for fx4, or xl for xlt.

You may also have to reprogram the PAT keys for a cluster swap

I tried a xlt cluster w/tach on my 08 xl and several things did not work, lights, door bell, an a/c, I really like the new cluster but owell.
