I was curious on what size speakers fit in the door becosue i want to replace the stock ones but dont fell like tearing apart my door pannel tell i have the speakers to put in. thanks
Go to crutchfield.com. Click on the link to find everything that fits your specific body style/year. I also order from them, usually can find a decent deal.
I saw my radio has Rear or Front Fade settings and I'd like to put a set in the back doors. It didn't come with them. I took the radio out and looked at the connectors and saw no open ports so I'm hopeing the wiring is there for the rear doors. Anyone know about this?
5x7 and 6x8 are same size speakers, difference is in the mounting brackets. I'd suggest Infinity Kappas for anyone who's serious about sound quality. Since our doors also are setup for a separate tweeter, you can go with some component speakers.
Personally, I avoid crutchfield at all costs. Mega expensive compared to other online stores. Shop around. Do it for 1/4 the cost of going to a local shop.
The stock speakers are 5x7 but you can mount 6.5 round speaker In the same spot. You gett better sound from a round speaker so your best bet is using 6.5 components. But then you need some power... And then you need some bass! Then more power!
I prefer the Polk Audio products. Best tweeter I have ever heard for a car (home too for that matter).
I purchased from Crutchfield 2 1/2 years ago. They had a special going on, by 1 pair, get the second at 1/2 price. Cost me $150 for 4 speakers. The Kicker sub rounds them out and my cab really rocks.
I have the audiophile system. What if I just want a little better sound quality. Can I just install some better speakers, and splice them in without adding an amp or anything?

I'll trade you systems...then you'll know what "suck" means.

Is the audiophile the head unit? If so what is the output on that? 25x4? Personally if you upgrade your speakers you are wasting your time if you don't upgrade by powering them with an amp. 1 300 watt x 4 channels will give you plenty of juice. What is nice about trucks is that we can run components. This will give you the best sound. The one thing missing in our trucks is a tweeter, something high up at ear level. So that means unless there is a lot of power and decent components the highs won't be as strong and as clear as we would all like.

My truck has the 8 speaker system, with the sub. That is what the Audiophile system includes. It is actually a very good stock sound system, I would just like to upgrade my cheap paper speakers, and my door mounted stock tweeters.

I think that is what I had. It is 4 mid speakers and 4 tweaters, and 1 sub. I just removed all of it. It is hard to ask the stock head unit to push after market speakers. You will definitely get some better sound, but you will not get optimal sound without a seperate power source. However, that is my opinion, and some people aren't as critical about their sound.
Right now I have 1 300watt x 4channel rockford amp powering my component 6 1/2" Diamond speakers and tweeters with crossovers. Then I have 1 500 watt x 1 rockford amp powering 1 10" JL P3 sub in a sealed enclosure. I am thinking about going the JL 13.5 sub though for some more punch.
I have a Lariat with Sync but no premium audio option. Can I add an amp and change speaker to the system? What kind of subs are you guys adding where it will not take up any space in a crew cab?
