1986 bronco exhausts question
Greetings.
If the hole in fact is a small tube jutting out, that would be the place where the downstream air injection tube would go. Most likely, all that has been stripped off the truck.
In '86 it was no big deal to do that, as long as you have no smog inspection where you live, and the cats were hollowed out.
If the air pump, plumbing, diverter and check valves are missing, it could be expensive to put it all back...
If inspection requirements dictate all the smog gear be in place, then hit the salvage yards. Any '86 model F150 with the same engine would have the same smog gear underneath.
If you don't have such, just replace it all from the exhaust manifolds on out... do as you please...
good luck.
Mike
