What is a good shock to put all round on my bronc's? Both are stock in suspension. I do not wheel my broncos much, but I do if the need arises. I have my diesel if I want to go out and play. I do not want to pay for the name on the edlebrocks, ranchos and such. I have trailmaster SSV's on my diesel, and I like them a lot. They were like 50 apiece but that was probably 10 years ago, and I think that was about the time that particular shock came out. Just wondered what everyone else was running, and how much they were. Thanx
I just picked up six Bilstein shocks for my '86. They are scheduled for delivery today and I'll probably slap them on tomorrow evening. Bought them on eBay for $335 w/ free shipping.
There's Bilstein, and then there's everything else.
I just use hd shocks from local parts house for my road trucks Undr $20 . I also use Sear's road master shock they used to have lifetime warranty and road niceunder $30.
I know what you mean about price for the name I just got rid of a set of brand name lift manufacturer shocks $65.00 a piece . I ran 1 week and the ride just sucked. I got 125.00 out of them. I stick with the others on my non lifted trucks.
For stock shocks on a budget, your local parts store should have something that should work fine.(Monroe is a good one from a parts store).
Other than that, you can look a some procomps (3000s) or somthing similar, should work, and cost about $30 each.
Or there's Skyjackers.... This is a big name, but they are alittle over $30 each, and they are pretty good shocks..... I'm running some now on my lifted bronco.
Just got my bilstein shocks too, someone told me that this will eliminate your rear end bounce/hop and improve the handling... You can also check Donagoe racing or King shocks if you want more selection and gather some info about this shocks that will fit more on your car..
I've used the Rancho 5000's for years, good shocks. Not knowing for certain what length and travel I needed for my SAS, I ordered a pair of the Superlift "Scratch & dent" shocks from ebay. $18 for two shocks that would normally cost $80. Sprayed a little white paint on them and they're good as new. The problem with the cheapie auto parts store shocks is they won't last very long and are junk, IMO. JSM84
