Two weeks ago I installed a new Bully Dog 6 Position chip on my '97 psd. She has 217000 miles and the only other mod is that the cat converter is out.
No problems for two weeks then all at once on friday am, all of the injectors on the right side quit. I was running the truck with the chip set on the stock setting at the time. Any ideas?
Probably the under valve cover wiring harness or maybe just the valve cover gasket. I know very litte about that stuff except that when the whole side quits it's probably wiring and those harness' going bad isn't uncommon. Others here will be able to give you more info.
I found a IDM in a junkyard (cause I'm a cheepskate) out of a Ambulance $75 and still going strong. If you go that route before you buy it, SHAKE IT if it has water in it keep looking.
I have been looking for the website of the place that does the IDM mod for you and rebuilds IDM's and I can't find it anywhere. Hopefully someone else will post it here for you.
Got ya covered Timbob. Beans Diesel Performance will do the mod for 1hundo. They send you a modded IDM, either 120v or 140v and you send yours back to them after you install the new unit. Good luck.
They supply more electrical power for the Injectors I believe. Rubberduck knows more about this then I do, Tim might even have some stashed info on the subject. Some have seen slight power gains, and others have noticed substantial power gains. I have heard anywhere from 20lb ft. to 70lb ft. Good luck
The IDM mod supplies more voltage to the injectors that results in faster and more precise control of the injector. I have not heard any numbers but a few guys claim a seat of the pants difference.
