I don't think I would try that myself I am afraid to touch the board with heat and burn something else. My IDM is out of a ambulance, someone said it was a 110? (a little more than the stock). I am not sure if it is worth it change a out a good one but maybe if it breaks again I would would get with DP and do that. I would like to do something affordable and easy to make it quicker, any thoughts?
Copedawg go one back to that salvage yard you got your first IDM from buy another one for $75. Send yours into get modded. Run your new used one. Get your modded one back then either throw the new used one on a self for just incase or throw it on ebay! Or let me know and I will buy it from you for what every you paid for it. I could mod that one then keep mine for a test unit.
Thats a thought, TJ. I am getting my truck from the shop tomorrow (if I can get there in time). I was looking at this van Aaken 4 Position Chip 9 as seen on dppi. Know anything about it? worth the monies? easy to install? or you know something better?
Van Aaken chips have Tony Wildman tuning on them which makes them a good buy, but I myself prefer Dp-tuners from Beans Diesel Performance as he will supply Tony Wildman burns where as if you went straight to Dp-tuner, they dont have his burns. Still a good chip but way better with TW tuning.
Thanks CB steve. I was just browsing through that site cool stuff at reasonable prices. I have always seen Bean this and Bean that but didn't know what Bean was. Thanks for the vocabulary lesson!
Thanks Steve for the info on Beans. I searched their website and can't find anything about IDM's but I will contact them. As it turns out they are only about 100 miles from where I live. Would love to go visit them.
Thanks for all of the advice fellas. Turned out to be the Injector Control Module inside the fender well. We installed one from a wrecked '96 1 ton. Runs like a top.
Decision now is wether to reinstall the Bully Dog chip or not? 217k miles with no problems then this after chip. Do you guys think this occurred because of the added load of the chip or was it coincidental?
