What engine will fit a '92 Lincoln Town Car

I have a '92 Lincoln Town Car in need of an engine. I am now searching and would like to know what year/model 4.6 engine can I swap into my Town Car? I would like to have as late a model as posible. Any help would be appreciated

I believe the rearly 4.6L engines were unique. Only 92 may fit. I did a 94 Cougar and it had to be a 94 Cougar/T-bird engine. TC and CV engines would not work. I had a link that expained the difference thru the years, but it doesn't work anymore for some reason.
This was it. http://www.modularpower.com/engine.htm Perhaps their server is down.
A local salvage yard should has an interchange book and can tell you what will fit.

You need to know if it has an AOD or AODE, if it is an AOD only 1 year 4.6L'd will work as said above, if it is an AODE you can use just about any newer 4.6L with some electrical work. Check out crownvic.net, it is a great site for that platform.

For CV and GMQ's the build date they switched to AODE's was 1-17-92 IIRC. I assume the towncars were the same.

I am about to deal on an engine out of a '98 Lincoln, and I need some help. My engine is locked up in '92 Lincoln, and I need to know how can I get the torque convertor bolts out if I cannot rotate the engine? Any tips will be gratly appreciated.
Thanks

You may have to drop the oilpan to remove whatever broken part is stopping the crank from turning. This will probably require pulling the engine and tranny together to get the pan off.
