Thanks, Dick. That helped abit, also helped me find my frame vin.

I took some measurements. Inner fenders are about 36"
351W and 400 are about 29" in length from block pattern to nose of water pump. outside head to outside head on the 351W at 19", the 400 at 23" These were rough measurements, not precise.

So my cab says 87HC 69620, and my frame says 88RC 35927. So the plot thickens again, lol.

When I was deciding on how and where to mount my big Caddy I had to kind of wing it. Before removing the front clip I took some measurements, I also noted that the inner fenders where at the outside of the frame and angle up and outwards from there so I figured that as long as I stayed within the confines of the frame, I was ok.

I made a few mistakes with the Caddy. I didn't have my Toyota steering when I built the engine mounts. I set the engine back as close as I could to the firewall (approx 1/2" clearance between the rearward head and the firewall) and as high as I could to make the trans fit without having to tunnel the cab floor. I also had to balanc the exhaust manifold clearance.
After getting it mounted, then I ended up with the Toyo steering and some block hugger headers. Naturally the headers wouldnt work with my steering intermediate shaft (plans to change it later on....yeah right) If I had it to do over again I would raise the engine about and inch.

Of course, none of this will help you much since the dimensions of the Ford engine must be quite different from the Caddy.

It looked like if I would have put the firewall back in stock the tranny dipstick tube would have been pretty much right against it. I do have the passenger car front sump oil pan. I thought the rear sump truck pan might be better, but that would be right over the tie rod. I have to get some more pics up, I pulled the motor again to try and get it all "prettied up" before I put all the new parts in, so I am kinda stalled right now.

I got the stock manifolds to fit by sliding the motor front 1 1/2 inches. The only thing I found so far that the move effected is now I need to cut a notch in the crossmember for the front pulley. The crank pulley on this motor is about 3 feet long because it was in a Lincoln and had 4 seperate belts to power everything. I still have room for the radiator, because I am moving the core support forward until it sits in front of the crossmember and drops down far enough for the hood to close over it. Everything is starting to fit, even though my truck is channeled over 6 inches.

I'm with Rusty on this one, you should be ashamed about the status of your shop. I mean, really, where's the clutter? what are you supposed to trip over? how in the world do you expect the wheels on a creeper to get hung up on stuff if the floor is that clean? And, AND You can get to both sides of the truck??
I'm sorry, but you need to stop what you're doing and immediately bring in several truck loads of spare parts, nuts, bolts, half full cans of various fluids that are on the edge of being tipped over and are just waiting for the drop light cord to get hung up on them and for you to give it a little tug for the them to disgorge their contents for you to step in and drag through the house (this must be done right after significant other cleans the house).

..........Its a disgrace...........
