I have read the used PSD buyers guide.
When letting the clutch out on the six speed where does it normally engage? Is it pretty far out? The truck does have 150K on it, It shifts smoothly.

My other question is there was a whine or hum when the accelerating and cruising is that likely the turbo? I believe it is stock truck.

Sounds like normal turbo noise to me, but then again I am not sitting in the driver's seat. I have a 01 as well, and love the truck. Not sure on the clutch, as I have a automatic. One thing for sure, if you get it, budget in 400.00 for a DP tuner setup, you will not be disappointed.

The friction point from the factory is usually pretty high. I had my clutch replaced at 212,000 in my 02 and now the friction point is much lower. I'm still getting used to it.

i too have a 2001 f250 and love it dearly. what are the specs on yours? is it 4WD? i would budget not only $400 for the DP but another $600 to go over it good and know what you are starting out with. Oil change, fuel filter change, run several tanks of diesel kleen at a high concentration to clean out the fuel system. do a 6637 intake and an HPX. i would change the tranny fluid and the rear end(s) lube. Go ahead and change the CPS to the new cheap grey one from ford. Clean the ebpv sensor and tube. You may also possibly have to change the u-joints and/or ball joints. I think i put an additional $1K into both of mine when i bought them just to make sure that they were tip top and ready to go another 150K miles, as both of mine had over 140K miles on them when i bought them. awesome motors and will run a very long time when properly maintained!! keep us posted.

I would not worry about the mileage at all.....that is just getting broken in. I have 360,000 on mine and continue to drive it 1,000 miles per week trouble free!

I have thought about getting a new one but I just can't bring myself to do it.
