intake for B2

This may be a funny request, but I am thinking about carbing my B2 (86 Eddie Bauer). Is there an intake for the 2.9 V6 that will remove the FI system and let me set a carburetor. The tranny is not a problem, I have some tricks for that, but I can't seem to find a source of disscussion on carbing a 2.9. I wrenched during the carb era and overlaped that wrenching into the FI (early eighties) era before I went on to bigger and better things. I know both systems but prefer a carb anyday.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance guys!

I don't know of any after market intakes for the 2.9. I own a 2.8 and I am in the opposite I cant stand the mechanical inaccuracies of carbs. The 2.9 was based of the 2.8 which is carbed but none of the parts are interchangeable to my knowledge. The 2.9s fuel injection system is one of the simplest I know of, if you wanna look at some ways to mode it go check out therangerstation.com and see what mods you can do. There is a conversion to switch the 2.9 to a mass air flow metered system thats responds to mods a lot better than the current MAP system you have installed. That will allow you to throw in larger injectors and get more power with intake.

Thanks bro, I will check it out. I love carbs probably because they are what I grew up with. I also know most of the FI systems. My electronics have let me down a few times in the bush and I am just thinking out loud right now!

Anyway thanks for the help!

I seem to recall LMCTruck.com having Weber kits for 2.9s, but might be a misprint. Might want to give 'em a call. I myself would stick with the EFI. The only drawback to the EEC-IV on the 2.9/3.0/4.0 is that it isn't very easily aftermarket flash-programmable, but that can be worked around. If you really want to get crazy with it, there are aftermarket FI and ignition controllers out there that you can take the time to install and set up as well. I personally wish that someone made a fully-sequential fuel-injection/ignition controller for 6-cylinder engines (all I have seen are 4- or 8-cyl full sequential and batch for 6/12).
