Went to Drag strip Tonight ;)

Well, I went out there today on test n' tune. I wanted to shim my FPR but it didn't happen. So here's some cheesy pics from some dude who was there and really didn't know how to use my camera. You can sort of see the massive sink strainer smoke. You can tell it's a drag strip from the writing on the wall to the right of my truck in the one pic. The slips are uploading and will follow shortly.

How many trips did you end up making?

All we need now is a pic of the finish line and we can photoshop you beating yourself in your the patrol car.

They didnt make you wear a helmet? At the strips around here we have to wear a helmet to race. I bet it got addicting, if it wasnt for my shotty trans when i went last year, i woulda went all day.

A buch of runs Alan, too many for my diode tranny probably but it held up well, I think. No helmet needed until you get into the 8's, or was it 7s??? I can't remember. First set of slips:

And here I try the 2wd runs. Man I made one hell of a cloud of smoke with the burnout and launch while power braking on that first try but I went nowhere fast. Woulda made a good pic thou because as I came back around there was still a huge black cloud around the tower. Camera dude (stranger had left).

And my final runs. Of interest is that while I have dispelled the 2wd vs 4wd launch ?s in my mind, looking at it I'm not sure that 2wd wouldn't beat out the 4wd in a 1/4 mile strip as we continue to pour it on. I think my tranny was getting hot as I was seeming to go the other way by now. Of interest is how my last run on the 80 econo did. I was set to leave but wanted to try it. It did very well. Tells me there's more to be had with the 120 race If I can take advantage of the tune.

Well I took your et and mph and guessed the weight at 7200lbs, and plugged it into a calculator, that should relate to a 13.74 1/4 mile time, although I am thinking that might be a little fast, but it also calcs to 536 flywheel hp, and 483 rear wheel hp. I am not always sure how accurate those calculators are but they have shown to be close in the past so thats pretty impressive.

Yeah, I'm glad you brought that up because I looked at that time slip too and don't really think that's mine. I think they fudged something up. I weighed my truck and myself in it last week when I wanted to go and got rained out. We tipped the scales at 7300. I know for a fact I'm not making that kind of power so that time slip is likely someone elses. I just put that in there since they gave it to me just to mess with Kris' head.

Besides, after getting that slip, I tried everything I could to get into the 8s again and could not so I'm sure it's an error. Funny thing is when I told the other folks who were there how much my truck weighed they were dumfounded at the 9 second et's.

Those calculators suck. I don't think they take into account the torque our engines make along with the boost.

It looks like you had a good time and your giving me an itch that I am gonna have to scratch. I think I'm gonna go wiegh this sucker first so I am not to disappointed. It feels strong but thats a lot of wieght to get rolling in a short distance. I have never run a 1/8 mile only 1/4 when I was a teen.

Something doesn't seem right on that 8 second run...but if it's correct, that's one heck of a good run!

Congrats there Tenn. Kind of Fun being able to burn out and go as fast as you can without worries isn't it? Hopefully Alan figured out the problem with my truck and I can be doing the same thing shortly

I'm sure they made an error Jeremy. I was actually pretty happy with my 9.6s. When I picked that one up I was dumfounded. Looking at all my numbers, it's clear that the 8 is an error. That was another vehicle with my car # on the slip. I just put it in there for fun. I was hoping Kris would see it but he must have went to bed.

Nice Tenn, i figured you would do better than you thought. Im sure you would run the 1/4 in just under 14 in 2wd, warm tranny and 120-140 race tune. Im glad you got to get out and go, i cant destroy my tranny or i would be there with ya, and all i have for tires is 37s
And to top it off you didnt kill your diode tranny? Did you pull the fluid to see if you had any chunks floating
