Before I do my tranny service....

Does anyone have a way that I can drain the torque converter when I do my trans service, or is that something that has to be done with one of those vacuum machines?

I'd like to do it myself, if there is a way.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks Guys.

Yes, you can drain it yourself. You have to remove the inspection plate at the bottom of the bellhousing (have to remove one starter bolt or the whole thing), then you'll have to turn the engine by the crankshaft pulley until the drain plug on the T/C comes around. Unbolt it, and you'll have a nice puddly of tranny fluid.

which trans?

if e4od you remove rubber plug tap ignition key with coil wire off distributer until drain lines up.

have a big pan handy, a lot of fluid in there.

no inspection plate on an e4od.
