Does anyone have a way that I can drain the torque converter when I do my trans service, or is that something that has to be done with one of those vacuum machines?
Yes, you can drain it yourself. You have to remove the inspection plate at the bottom of the bellhousing (have to remove one starter bolt or the whole thing), then you'll have to turn the engine by the crankshaft pulley until the drain plug on the T/C comes around. Unbolt it, and you'll have a nice puddly of tranny fluid.
Thanks for that info. I hate to do a job more than once.
I want to thank everyone here in this forum for all the great info. Ive been working on cars a long time, but this old dog learns new tricks all the time.... LOL
