about4 months ago i came across an awsome 95 bronco with low miles so i bought it. The weather is warmin up and i looked to take the top off and i started to wonder, did Ford really want people to take these tops off? I found out that it uses a wierd looking star then it looks like i have to unbolt the seat belt? Is this really what i have to do?
Yes you have to unbolt the seat belts from the top. Its not too hard to do, just get the bit and use a cheater bar. It may be against the law to have passangers back there without 3 point seat belts, so if you care you may want to check your local laws. Last time I had my top off I had the passangers wear the 3 pointers as lap belts.
You need to get a torx set for a ratchet to remove the top . Most Kmarts that have Craftsman tool will have a set.
I would just yank back seat . Or get older 2 point belts for saftey. And the 3rd brake light will need to be adressed.
Just remember that if your Torx bolts have the raised dot in the center you have to get the "security bits". The first time we tried taking off my friends top we tried drilling a hole in the center of a torx bit and ended up getting really pissed off.
If I remember right he had a '95 as well, I think the size of bit you are looking for t-40 security bit, But sometimes i make stuff up when my memory is foggy. Should be able to search this forum for the correct bit.
yeah i was able to get about 2/3 off, i recommend using the torx slowly for the rear two on each side and the front one on each side, on mine, the bolts on the verticle all removed easily, but on the horizontal(base) all were a huge pain. needless to say, i took the angle grinder to the ones in the middle. its been noted, i think by graystreak that you only need four to hold it on. if that all makes sense
