Smile marmon-herrington 56 big job

I hit the jackpot today.I got a hood-nice and 3 front fenders also nice and a glove box door for cheap
The big surprise is I also made a deal on a FACTORY ORIGINAL 4 wheel drive-actually 6 wheel drive(duals) Marmon-Herrington 1956 ford F800? big job. I was so wound up I hardly looked at the road on the way home!!!!
I will try to get it home next week. I have a partner with a semi and I think that would be the easiest way---it is huge.
I am on cloud 9!!!!LOL!!!!!I was wondering what this will be worth?
I already have all the parts for the F600s and I will be getting into the big jobs now. The wife thinks I am crazy--but she is ok with it.
Let me know what the going price would be on the market now. Thanks Bill

All I can tell you is it is a 4 speed and has the bigger y block. I was amazed at how complete it is,and it has all the m-h plaques on dash, etc. It will be so cool with my F600s all in the drive. Need a bigger drive--hahaha!!!

Wow! Looks like the deal of the century to me! You say you have all the parts for F-600's? May I ask where you got them? Been looking for fenders, hood, grill, and even a complete cab for my 55 f600 for a long time and only finding parts more rusted out than what I already am driving! Next step is to try to install a 56 cab and sheet metal on my 55.

I got a load of parts in Connecticut/Rhode Island and another complete 56 F600 to boot. I found alot of other parts on epay. I also have friends with big truck parts.
There are alot of rust out there, and some are not worth much.

I hope to haul the m-h home next week, but the guy said that it will need time because he doesn't want me to make a mess in his yard. I wonder what the 4 wheel drive m-h conversions numbers are. How many were built in 56? I think this baby is complete, and has a bunch of stuff in the cab. oH--WELL---wife will be makin' me sleep in barn next-LOL

There was one of those on EBAY about 6 mo ago....

It was a 53 F8/800 Marmon. dumptruck down around Carson City NV. it had a starting price of $500 and no one bid on it.

I toyed with the idea for a while and finally came to my senses....It would have cost a fortune to go get it and probably a fortune to fix it and a fortune to drive it now.......

I still want it!!

Cheers,

Rick

Walford: Please post us some pictures ASAP! Where are you? I Know of 2 matched F-800 M&H trucks which were purchased new by highway departments of the Towns of Caroline and Berkshire, East of Ithaca NY. They were complete with V plows and wings! Last I talked with anyone up that way was in 1998, they were still in exisatance in private hands and probably VERY rusty.
yours probably has the 332 Y block although I think there may have been a Lincoln 361 Y block avasilable?
Good Luck
Brocky

Two Lincoln based Y block engines were offered in big trucks in 1956: The 302 and the 332.
