My inlaws upgrade to from 460 to v-10
My inlaws have a 1995 motorhome on a ford chasis and just traded it in on a 1998 V10 motorhome that is 31'. Now he is comparing it to his 460 and has not found an upside to having the V10. I keep telling him that it is the life of the engine and the torque but he disagrees. He says he had all the torque he needed in his 460 and that 100K on a motorhome is about the life of them because they judt don't get driven that much. He has 50K on his 460 and it is a '95 and the '98 he just bought only has 10K. so he does'nt see the value.
No fuel gain
No HP gain
No ROI in general for him.
Anything I should point out to him?

Thank you for understanding. I have a 99 V10 and love it, However i am not impressed with it compared to the 460. Now to answer everyones questions in one format:
He traded to get a BIGGER motorhome. The only reason he traded was because this unit was bigger by nearly 10' has a generator and an A/C unit that their unit did not have. He also knows that my V10 has had no issues and is confident in the ford chasis and engines.

The 98 and 99 have slightly less HP and torque, compared to the 2000 and newer, (265HP to 305 HP) and torque is not even that much.
Just have him check the torque band of the V-10 compared to the 460, the V-10 is much wider, and produces about 90% of its max torque at only 1200 rpms. There also more fuel efficient, he may not have realized that yet, but he will. And motor homes do last longer that 100K, my 2001 27' Class C is pushing 90K now, and I haven't even pulled the plugs yet, and it still runs as strong as ever, and still uses about 1 Qt per 5K miles of Mobil 1 5W-30. I did replace the accessory drive belt. Other wise just routine service. I know one guy with 220K on his 99 V-10, E-350 and still going strong.
And my 98 E-350 work van has 185K with no problems, and its overloaded.

Apples and oranges vs unreasonable expectations perhaps??
460 CI dragging XXXX?? weight vs 415 CI dragging XXXXXXX?? more weight
very curious synopses of :
No fuel gain
No HP gain
No ROI in general for him.
If your in-laws are unimpressed...then I assume they are too mechanically unsophisticated to ever understand the dynamics of the differences or a smaller motor hauling a MUCH larger load at supposedly the same effeciency....you are never going to get them to realize this exceptionally significant fact.
