problem with 429 coils blowing

problem with 429 coils blowing
I had my truck running, when it just shut off. I figured it was the coil, so I replaced it and it worked again. The problem is I blew this coil too! i checked the coil with a tester light, and it gives off a very dim glow. I then tested the brainbox, and it gave a brighter glow. I have no clue what is going on. Can someone please help? MUDFEST IS IN A WEEK!

are you sure youre getting the right coil? if youre asking for the coil for the 429 then theyll give you a points coil because they were all points until they got re-released in the 80s in big trucks, if you ask for one for a mid-late 70s 460 then theyll give you one for electronic ignition
