What are you running for a gasket, I bought this truck 4 years ago and it's always leaked out the plug. The orginial gasket was a fabric style and the new plug I bought came with a O ring and it leaks, I checked the pan surface area and it's ok, I hate oil leaks no matter how small.

Not entirely sure. When I changed the oil on my 4.2, I believe my gasket looked like the doorman ones that are for sale for $1.20 and $1.24 assuming that the oil drain plugs and gaskets are the same between the engines. Mine also might be factory original as I bought it with 24k miles back in November.

 

Leaked tediously for years so I had to add 1 quart per month. Stopped when I switched it to nylon.

 

I went with this style, so far no leak
