Don't worry... I have been...

Anyhow, back to being on-topic. The crash results are interesting... I really wonder why the NHTSA only gave it 4 stars then.

Yikes! I think a setup like that would look and work well under my Expy!

This a alot of reading for one guy to indure before he has his morning cup of coffee!

By the way, I've also lived by 93Rangers example and I now frequent Toyota Dealerships with my Pinto and yell at people if they start looking a Tundra's.

I hope that coffee is ready......

When they upped it to 10,500 to counter the GM trucks, I'm not sure if there were any changes. But the 11K tow rating that came out in response to the Tundra is only available on a specifically optioned truck the average consumer does not purchase.

[and don't forget the F-150 is 4 model years old!!]
I read that they are going to institute an objective test next year to determine the tow ratings so it's not just up the the manufacturers to state the tow ratings. As it is now, it's like poker where the last one speaking raises the last one without actual changes to the trucks.

the other local dealer ship around my area has 2 F-150s blocking there gates when there closed. I asked the dealer why hes got them there he said they were trade in's, but had a odd glare in his eye they have been there for ages, I dont think They have sold one Tundra. The same Tundra sits there for 2 months theyve only had the one, and another sits in the back lot. Its a sales gimmack that I dont think is working cause I was jokeing with him and offerd over the sticker price by about 500 dollors the other day when I asked him about this, he said its not for sale. If you ask me he hasint sold a single Tundra, he told me hes sold lots.

Well that makes sense. You need to talk to the Toyota salesman, not the guy that sells lots. Unless you're looking for property of course. See if you can find one with a decent view and city water.

That's for clearing this up for me. I thought that originally Ford had stated 9900 lbs and then since the new Tundra was launched it was upped to 11000 lbs without any design revisions to the existing platform.

It will be interesting once this objective test is completed how our beloved F-150 will fair in its current form.

You must admit, in the past couple years Toyota has beefed-up the Tundra quite a bit as compaired to what it was before. But this still does not make nothin' like the F-150.

Good point!!! If you're talkin' about Ford's smaller brakes, smaller diff, less power/torque, 4 speed trans......you're 100% correct, Toy doesn't make a truck like that.

[or maybe they do.....the Tacoma???]

Ford doesint offer 1 diff, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 5.??, brakes will be bigger on the next F-150 im sure, nothen wrong with the current brakes, its not hard to upgrade, less torque, still out hauls, tows better than the Tundra, 4 speed tranny is proven, next F-150 will have a 6 Speed. Tundra rated for 2200 I dought it could carry any more than that. Still only seen 3 Tundras, driveing down the road, and that was ages ago. Toyota wont reach there goal of 200,000 this year.

Ummmm............those are called "gear ratios". C'mon now spanky, say it together: G E A R R A T I O S.

The "gear ratio" has NOTHING to do with the actual size of the ring and pinion . (except that the actual ring and pinion size can dictate ratio choices, an example would be that there are no 5.13's for the Ford 8.8")

[not sure why I'm debating with a gnome that thinks Ford still uses the 9" diff ???]

As far as the "NEXT" F-150.............kinda difficult to compare to something that doesn't even exist.

Hey Spanky, have you paid RocketScience for that "garuntie" that you made???
