4x4 issues

anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with my 4X4, 93 ranger manual hubs, push button 4X4 nothing happens, push button and no lights come on, when i take the switch out and use my test light there is power getting to the switch i have no idea. Has anyone ever had this problem or have any ideas.

I would check the ranger, or some of the drivetrain forums man. There you can get alot more specialized help then in here!

I would say it would be the actuator on the trasfer case, the push button chevys were famous for failling

you could try testing the switch or use a jumper wire to bypass the switch

how to use jumper wire

hello, bandit i am just wondering how i would bypass the switch or use a jumper wire any ideas. and thanks alot for everyones help.

When you press the button can you hear anything happening down below?

you would have to figure out witch wire the switch gives power to then use a peice of wire a couple inchs long with some aligator clips on the end of something.

the fix

I just fixed my 91 Ranger transfer case with a 1 /12 work and some elbow grease and 5/16's fuel line. The link https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=123542 read the whole thing first though and it doesn't hurt to google it and read more sources.

It really does help to have it on a bench unless you have a helper or three hands IF you take apart the motor itself. The brushes for the armature really are a pain , I did mine in a lube bay and proped it on the transfercase skidplate. Took me 5 try's to get the armature in place :-)

Hey 5 trys isnt that bad at all, especially when you succeed in the end.
