Nice forum you have here. I happened on it searching for info.
Looks to be excellent help on this site. And yep, my power steering has been making noise for a looong time. Type F transmission fluid huh. Right now I have to replace my VSS. I've had this problem in the past, speedometer bouncing around. This time it's mostly stopped, and, the ABS light is on, but, the odometer is working, so what I've read in here, thankyou, it's the VSS.
I have a 92 F-250, 5.8, manual 5 speed, with 284,000 miles. I like this truck and enjoy driving it.
I need to figure out how to setup my profile and signature. I may be able to after posting.
Thanks.

Talking Bouncing speedo?

Howdy Edge,
I didn't catch how you fixed the bouncing speedometer but I remember when mine bounced, turned out to be the rear end. I let it go for a very long time. Man, talk about a mistake!
Anyway, welcome.

Thanks Mr Giz, Popa Tim, and quicklook2.
Mr Giz. I had this problem once before with the speedo and it was the sensor, VSS. I have a new one now and tomorrow I will put it in.
I have a question for all. I thought I had my profile set up so not to receive email when someone posts to my message. But I received email from the site saying all of you responded, which is cool, but I'd rather come to the site and read the posts without cluttering up my email.
Also, how do you setup a signature? I could not find that .
Thanks.
Larry

Hi Edge, welcome to FTE. I sometimes find the e-mails a bit much but I still leave mine turned on. I'm a regular on multiple forums and the notifications help me keep track of the threads I post on.

No check or uncheck option for email. But there is an option drop down, which I set for no email, but they are still coming in. I'll work on it. Maybe a moderator will read this or I will PM them later. Thanks gang.

When you reply to a thread, scroll down just a bit and you will see “Additional Options” The “Thread Subscription Notification Type” is set to “Instant E-Mail Notification” by default. If you don’t want the e-mails, then you need to choose, “Do Not Subscribe”. You will have to do this each time you respond to or start a new thread.

You can also see all of the threads you have subscribed to in the “User CP.” Under the name of each thread is an option to “Reply | Unsubscribe”. Click Unsubscribe and the e-mails will stop.

Speedometer is fixed. First off the parts store gave me the wrong part, so i took the old one off the 3rd member and showed them, they did not list it, so I had to go to Ford and get one. Contrary to what the repair manual says, in 1992, depending on the transmission etc., there may be another speed sensor besides the one on the rearend, like mine. Appears to be a magnet with maybe an impulse sensor. Then changed the fluid. Looks to be good to go. Thanks for the help.
