I have heard that the best one to get is one off of an early '99 model. The connections are the right size. I may possibly be wrong but someone else here can help you better on this.
TJ- I don't know about you but I take more pride in my work and my money,Huh?
Another thing is down time. I could not have my truck out of service for more than one day, so I did not have the time to do the DIY. I went with Beans, got the injectors one day, and the next day I pulled my old ones and installed my new ones. Truck was only down 4 & 1/2 hours. Then I shipped my old ones back to Beans. Plus I could write my injectors off as a farm expense.
But if I had the time or another set of injectors, (to rebuild and still drive the truck) I would do the DIY in a heart beat.
All good reasons to not do DIY injectors. What go for me is not good for others. PlowHand writing off injector to the farm, I need to buy a farm! oh wait I am not much a farmer. I can fix their equipment all day long but not farm it. Maybe I will just pay for the injectors!
as far intercoolers
yes a 6.0 or superduty 7.3 IC will fit (MINES GOING IN THIS WEEKEND!!!!) You can use the tubing from a 7.3 superduty but it needs to be modified. Also the intake y-pipe from an early 99 superduty can be used but they are very hard to come by. Also you can modify your current y-pipe to work. if you can weld you build the piping. or if you have a good eye and a friend that can weld you can build it. if you buy a kit for the piping be prepared to spend over $500. banks is one place also GTS motorsports. Sorry no links
but here is a good article for the how too on the install http://members.localnet.com/~boys3/
