Lightbulb 360 problom solved?

The 360 that is in my truck right now is about to get removed in the next week or two. The guy i bought it from said it liked to over heat, but didn't know what was wrong with it. He put in a new water pump, rad, A few thermostats and a new rad cap. however, He didn't look at the intake bolts. upon closer inspection i found that there was no intake bolt on the passenger side at the rear and the intake bolt on the driver side rear was too long. I think this problom is solved what do you guys think?

Hard to say if the missing and incorrect bolts are the cause of the over heating, be sure to check the rad inside from the rad cap to see if it`s not corroded or dirty. Also the the fan belt is not loose.

The rad is fine, no corrosion and no bent fins. the fan belt was tight before i took them off for engine removal.

Don't remember how a 360 is, but on some engines you can get the LH & RH gaskets reversed and block coolant flow between block and heads, or heads and intake.

Good point, I`m fairly sure the 360 head gaskets can be put on the wrong so if someone has had the engine apart it would be good to check to see the gaskets are on rite to be sure.
We could use some more clues in order to help, such as how fast/badly does it over heat and any other info that you are aware of.

I had a rad problem in my 85 when I first got it. The bottom half of the rad was so full of stop leak that it plugged half the cores and made the coolant flow retstricted. Had to remove the rad and flush it out. No rad leaks afterwards. The stop leak was put in I suspect because some frost plugs were corroded and leaking.
So maybe the rad could be a problem.
Intake gaskets in backwards is also a good point. The bolts also can cause some over heating, but you would of notice coolant leaking here and white steam.
Plugged coolant routes in the block can cause problems.
I had a cxar that overheated and I ended up putting in an engine flush and ran the car for a awhile and man the car use to make all sorts of noises as the flush broke through plugged areas. Afterwards it did not overheat.

Is that 61 Canuck's brown 1969, you're thinking of? Which if that is the truck you are thinking of, I think 61Canuck still has it for sale.

IT looks ok, straight and fairly rust free. I hope you find the problem real soon and it`s a cheap fix.
