I would take it to a tint shop, not too expensive, around $50, and they'll no doubt stand by their work. I had mine done a couple of months ago (front 2 windows to match the back also) and the driver side had 2 small air bubbles right where I look at the side mirror. Very annoying. Took it back and they retinted it for free.
My '01 X had this done before I got it. It was obviously an aftermarket job, not because it was bad, but because the color doesn't match.
From outside the vehicle it looks fine, but from the inside, on a bright sunny day, the fronts a "blue-er" than the rest.
Definately worth doing it at a good shop. I'm trying to figure out if it is worth getting it "re-done", it bugs me so much. Can they remove an old tinting easily?
Also, if you take it to a tint shop, you should be able to get a certificate to keep in your truck, stating that it is legal. I keep mine with my registration, just in case. My front tint is a little bit lighter than the rear, but from the outside, it looks the same..
I've had all of my vehicles tinted professionally in the past 10 years, though I did do the tints on a couple of my cars in the past. The best advice I can offer is to try and install the tint INDOORS. If you try and do the tint outdoors the wind or even a breeze can make the job ten times as difficult and ruin the job. You also need to wet the window and keep wetting it as you go along with a "squeegee" to work out any air bubbles. You should also use a brand new razor to cut the tint to size on the exterior side of the window to make sure you have the perfect template. Do not stop wetting and "squeegeeing" until there are no air bubbles. Then once you are done, let it sit in the sun and do not open the window for at least 48 hours.
