Does anyone know of any websites where it says how to replce the radiator on an 89 f 350 w/ 351? Or should I just try my best to remove it and learn as I go? Thank you
I would learn as you go. When I replaced the radiator in my 95 bronco I did that and it turned out good. All you have to do is
1. make sure everything is cool, you don't want the radiator hot
2. Drain the radiator, taking the cap off will speed up this process
3. remove everything attached to the radiator
4. remove bolts that hold radiator and shroud in place.
5. tip shroud back and out of the way. i put mine next to the engine block around the fan to hold it out of the way.
6. pull out radiator, they can be heavy so make sure you have a good grip on it.
7. Swap out tranny line adapters to the new radiator, I had to on mine, you may not have too.
8. Install radiator
9. make sure when you put the shroud back on that it clears the fan blades again. I didn't do this and my fan ate part of my shroud
10. refill radiator with coolant, check for leaks.
11. start truck and as air bubbles come up the the surface and coolant level drops, add more.
12. The coolant should be at the bottom of the neck on the radiator.
13. After the truck is fully warmed up and the radiator is full, take it for a short drive to help get the rest of the air bubbles out.
14. Do NOT reopen the cap, just add coolant to the overflow tank until it is at its proper level. The radiator will suck in more coolant if it needs it.
15. check for leaks again.
16. In the morning, if need be, add more coolant to the overflow tank.
17. enjoy new radiator.
good luck buddy.
thank you, That wat i did this past weekend. I got the old one out but havnt got around to buying a new one yet i will be putting a new one in this weekend. Thanks again
it went well i had some damaged done to the front bumper and grill thats wat caused the leak in the radaitor but bought a new one the only hard part was connecting the transmission lines to it. because i couldnt get the old screw in pieces out of the old radaitor so i jus hadda splice one of the lines and use a rubber hose and different inlet piece. But i wasnt sure how much coolant to put in it so i put 2 gallons in but it overheated on the way to the store unfortuantly so i put another gallon in and its runnin betta do u know how much i should actully put in it?>
