I’m trying to find the source of this noise that won’t stop. On 3 out of 7 stops I’ll hear this dull thump toward the front of the truck. It sounds like someone throwing a rock at a piece of foam insulation. It’s a low frequency thump or pop. I can’t tell but it seems like I feel it in my brake but that’s not for sure. Any suggestions?
The AC has not been on yet this year I don't think that's it.
Remember that the AC runs if you are on defrost, or when the dial is set for vent and floor. It only DOESN'T run on the vent and floor only settings. AC is commanded on for every other setting.
Kind of a bone-headed idea IMO. They need a separate button to command the AC on and off like the VW's have.
Very common sound when the front ball joints are going out. you might jack the font up and see if you can move the joint around. I wasn't able to, but when I put a small floor jack under the joint, I was able to move it almost 1/2 inch. It occurred just as you described, when stopping but not everytime.
