thanks again.

lastly, i suppose the purpose of the TSB is to take it to the Ford dealer so that they know exactly what Im talking about?

I mean, I know what Im talking about... The TSB is already telling me what I know...??? It is not helping me any.

I'd change the fluid and add the modifier and see how it goes.

The Full Text TSB's are great...the others, well, you can see if someone on this site can get you the Full Text (which is what I'd do, start another thread with that title) or take it to the dealer like you said.

as far as friction modifier, I am quite a novice at doing anything myself, is this something I can do on my own?

yes, it's added just like the fluid is, same hole! you might have to suction some fluid out.

you can buy aftermarket (never tried any, but have Amsoil in my garage waiting for a good day) or go to the dealer...

I'm glad I'm starting a real job soon....I just realized how many posts I've made on this site and www.bobistheoilguy.com today.... LOL

Has to be a fill hole somewhere. If not on the rear cover look on the other side, probably passengers side.

On a lot of rear ends, it's a threaded plug with a square 3/8" hole in it. You put the extension of a 3/8" ratchet in there and loosen. If there is fluid up to the hole, you will have to remove a bit of fluid to make room for the modifier. Remove with a fluid-sucker, or an old turkey baster with a little hose on the end... remove the amount that you are going to replace.

I was wondering, I filled my rear end with mobil1 and 4 oz of friction modifier, but somewhere I read that mobil1 and royal purple, among some others, already have the friction modifier added in the oil, I dont know it that is true, do you guys know if its true or not?

What do you guys make of this? The vibration only happens in 2HI, when I put the truck in A4WD the rumble goes away.
