Smile Possible to swap out air bags for springs?

Is it possible to swap out air bags for springs on older Expeditions?

Also, when did Ford introduce fully independent rear suspension on the Expy?

Yes, you can change it from air to coils, but its easier/cheaper to get a kit made for this. If not, you'll need to rig it somehow so that the coil spring will stay put top & bottom, seeing how the rearend housing was designed for the air springs.

I swapped out the air bags and shocks on my 98. Got the kit from strutmasters and bought the shocks they recommended for the front. It works fantastic and the ride is more controled and I think it tows heavy loads fine too. Best investment I've made for the expy. If you are thinking about it due to a problem with the air system, do it!
