engine swap 292 into 48 ford f-4

I have a good 292 Ford V-8 & transmission from a 1962 1 ton that I would like to install in my 1948 ford f-4. Is there a book out there that would cover this or is it going to be trial and error?

i dont think there are any books out there but i know theres at least a couple poeple running y-blocks in there 48-52s. if people can drop a 350 in one you should be able to put a 292 in one. kudos for keeping it old school ford. the only thing thats cooler than a y-block is a flathead.

You just want to be sure that you get the cross pieces that the trans mounts to and you need to get the front engine mount and probably install a cross piece in the frame for it in your truck.

I am finding that I'll need to install a cross member to connect the front engine mount to in my 55 F-600. I have a 292 from a 1960 F-100 rebuilt and ready to be installed and a T-98 4 speed trans. My plan is to try to adapt an E4OD automatic eventually.

Regards,

Rick

Thanks everyone, I have the complete 62, so I have all parts available. If I make it thru the summer I will have time to work on it this fall.. The 48 has a flathead six or I would build engine back. I like the ohead valves of the 292, they don't seem to stick as bad as the old 239, plus it will give me a little more modern engine.
