Does anyone know where the voltmeter guage's sending unit is on an 89 xlt 302. Mines dead, however it powers up to the lowet part of the guage when i turn the ignition on, but doesnt move otherwise. Anyone have a problem like this? I know that the guage is good, but I dont know where to start looking for wiring. Oh and has anyone had their headlights flash on and off for no reason while sitting completely still? I've replaced the headlight switch already and it'll start doing for no reason at all. I've checked for bad wiring, but couldnt find any, but I did notice that the passenger side headlight harness gets real hot. Any help would be appreciated.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Jan-02 AT 11:47 PM (EST)]The charging *Amps* GAUGE is run from the voltage regualtor.
This is also a spot for fluttering lights as well as the dimmer switch.
Replace the dimmer switch.
Then,Disconnect the battery and clean-up the grounding area of the voltage regulator.
Did you test the charging circuit at the battery with a Volt meter?

Great. I'll check it out. However where would I find the voltage regulator on an 89 302 Bronco? I've never had any electrical problems like this. Also I think the headlight thing has to do with the HID style bulbs I installed . They use like 85/80 w so I was told I should run them through relays. I've put my old bulbs back in for the time being, and seem to work normally now, so thats probably the problem. But as far as my ammeter guage, I'll have to find the voltage regulator and go from there. Thanks for your help.
