Oil cooler
It's not really a problem, unless i'm running hard. then i have to let the system idel for a minute or two to cool down a bit before shutting it off.
On a side note, who sells the cheapest 2.25" exhaust pipe. i need a t or a y pipe to go with it.
There's one.
The cheapest place I can think of to get pipe is at a muffler shop. They'll typically sell it pretty cheap around here. I had some 2.25 bent to shape for me for $10.
I know Autozone and O'Reilly here also sell aluminized pipe.
Would also be helpful to know more detail about you ride, like year, model, mleage, engine, tranny, differential ratio, does it already have a factoy tow package installed, any mods you've made, tire size, what you want to do with the truck & the ambient temp extreems you'll have, when you do whatever it is you want to do with the vehicle.
If you're considering a crankcase oil cooler, you'll probaby want to consider a high efficiency, thermostatically controlled, low flow restriction, flat plate type, so you get the best low back pressure flow & cooling, in the smallest size cooler, in hot weather, but the thermostat will have the oil bypass the cooler in cold weather, when you don't need to & shouldn't have it cooled.
This will allow the oil to stay closer to it's designd operating temp, over a wider range of operating conditions.
Where the oil flow to operate the cooler is borrowed from, how & where it's put back into the engine, should be carefully considered, as it can seriously affect your oiling systems flow of lubricant to the engine & how the oil sump level is maintained during operation & even the engines operation!!!!
Since our engines aren't designed to operate with oil coolers & there isn't a factory supplied plug in spot for the pick up & return lines, I'd consider contacting maybe two or three professional manufacturers of oil coolers, like Hayden, ect, & see what they suggest for your engine type & needs.
Just some thoughts for pondering.
I'm running a bored out 4.5L with a turbo charger, and some other goodies. The truck is fine. well actually the stock radiator is too small for it. I kwen this going into the project that it would run hotter. I don't have issuse with overheating, the turbo gives most of the heat problems from what i understand. i recently bought some exhaust wrape for it to help hold in some of that heat away from the block. It doen't really get effected if i pappy drive it, only when i'm first out of the light.
The system installation wont be done by me. i'm sorta automoively gimp, and can barely tell a carb apart from a TB.(ok i'm alittle better than that, but you get the picture). I have poeple. I dont really drive it in the winter. especially once they start laying salt. If i do, it's kept in a heated garage. i'm not worried about winter oopteration. this truck is more of a street legal drag racer than a Daily driver.
