I just did my top end. Bigger cam shaft, gt40p heads and headers. I noticed a power gain but nothing ridiculous. Is my intake holding me back ? Is it worth the 1000$ cdn to switch to the 3881 edelbrock intake?

What cam did you go with? And what rear gear ratio do you have? You can add 20 HP and not notice it if you have a highway gear in the axle

Grind Number is FW X4 250H-11. I've been informed that is not the greatest cam for efi but it works well and the truck runs great. It's got 3:55 gears

Yes the 5.8 eddy manifold is great, but it is a hard pill to swallow. No loss in off idle hp and it comes on strong 2k+ all the way to truck redline.

Better get a wideband too.

The stock intake is holding the motor back, up to you if it's worth it to spend $1k on an intake. I still have brand new Typhoon intake set for sale for half that... same lower section with a single TB car style upper.

yeah I know about the wide band I've got one sitting in my cart at summit racing along with the intake. Just waiting/deciding to pull the trigger...

It's such a goofy design Ford made for it. It probably cost so much to duplicate it. Hence the heavy price tag ...

Well, nobody's mentioned it, so I will. Didn't want to cost Paul a sale (I mean the Typhoon is really a decent intake )

This is what I did & I think it has a lot of merit for the buck, your results may vary:

For the money, that's definitely the best option. But there's a lot of efficiency left on the table from the inherently poor lower design. It's one of those things .... if you have the money, go for better. If you don't, go cheap and don't look back.

I think I'm going to go for it. I just took the truck for a drive and it wouldn't cherp the tires on the hot pavement. Hopefully it unlocks a lot of hp that the heads and cam can't get out

ill update you guys....

iv had the intake on for three weeks now. I couldn't be happier with it. Definitely opened up a lot more power. The truck makes great power till 4500 rpm. But that's probably the cam stopping it after that. Wel worth the money and I can get my valve cover off and get at my injectors.
4.10s coming soon now

Thanks for coming back with report. How does your off idle torque feel?

it's great. I notice it as soon as I give it some gas. My truck has 33s right now so it cruses at 1600rpm, it can go up most hills and bridges with out down shifting now and can usually pass some one at 100km/hr with out shifting
