Well, today we were driving home on the freeway and from nowhere a rock hits the windshield and puts a small quarter-size spider crack in the outer layer of the windshield. I have a few options from what I can tell. I can buy a repair kit and try it myself, I can try and have it repaired at a glass shop or replace the entire windshield. Does anyone have any info. on if the store bought repair kits are good and are they easy to use? This is the cheapest way to go, as I would prefer not having the entire windshield replaced. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Most insurance companies will waive the deductible if you have it repaired versus replaced. I'd call the insurance company and see if they'll do this, and then call a couple of shops to see how much a repair is.

Yup this is how my insurance covered our chipped windshield.....didn't cost me a penney and you barley can tell where the chips were.
