How much of a difference would i notice, going from what i have now (Dahl 150, lift pump and tank mods) to a system such as this? Does the pump use steel gears or a stock design?
From everything I've read on the subject much of the air in the fuel is already there when you by it, gets aerated when you pump it, and more air gets in while driving as it sloshes around in the tank. The only way to get this air out is to filter it and return it to the tank, which both the Air Dog and FASS claim to do with a two filter and two return line to the tank design.
Soon after the FASS was introduced for the PSD, it was installed and dyno tested by Browns Valley RV and written up in PSR magazine. I might still have that issue packed away in my sister in law's attic, I think it gave a 12 HP improvement for a stock PCM, then they gave other #'s with different tunes dialed in. The FASS rep that was there claimed that there would've been a bigger difference, but the truck had wound sitting over night before the first dyno run without the FASS, and the guy said that let a lot of the air settle out for the stock run. He said they should've taken the truck out for a drive and bounced it around some prior to the run.
The FASS guy said the biggest benefit is when your bouncing down the road (like I do towing) and you get a lot of air in the fuel. I'm thinking about getting one, I'll be passing through Phoenix, AZ this winter, does ITP Diesel install or just sell them?
I do some installations if they are planned enough in advance and fit into my schedule. Since it's still just me here, I'm usually just too darn busy. Right now it's all I can do just to get the phone messages returned and orders shipped. Add into that all of the time I'm spending on the redesign of my fuel systems and the development of some new stuff and I'm just slammed.
Question for Dennis...does the air dog filter before the pump with one filter..then after the pump with the other filter??? this way the stock filter could be deleted..if not..is there a pump that does just that??? thanks a lot...
