Thumbs up Need Help on Lift and tire Advice

Ive got a 2002 f150 regular cab flareside on stock everything. Im new to jacking my truck up and getting bigger tires. I dont want to spend an arm and a leg to do it because I'm only going to have it a few more years but I want to do something to it. Maybe a body kit?or a lift?I was thinking maybe 35's or 37's for tires.give me feedback

35's your probably looking at 800 bucks or so. As for a lift ifyou are going to do something do it right, I personally would never do a body lift. But I have a couple of friends with body lifts who love it. Me I would get a 6" suspension lift from fabtech or sky jacker or one of those companies then go with 35 or 37 tires depending on ur budget.

how much money would be involved with a 6 inch lift from skyjacker or fabtech? Just curious,why do you not like body kits?

Just the lift is around 1500 - 2000 or so. Not installed. Body lifts IMHO ruins the ride of the truck because of the spacers you put between the body and the suspension. The gaps in the truck are always noticeable. The suspension lift will ride really nice and increase your offroad capability.
Pro Comp is good as well. Just research the lifts and decide which is best for you.

to do it right it is going to cost you 5000 bucks, includes susp lift, wheels tires, installation, frontend alignment, traction bars which nobody does but to do it right you need that to included in price

You dont need traction bars. Just dont go with blocks in the rear. Step up and get the leaf springs.

Simply put Body lifts are for wanna bes. 16 year olds will be impressed. Either Fabtech or Procomp are great products. But in addition to tires you will need to check what rim you will need with the 6" kit. You can't safely put 35x12"s on the factory 7.5" rim and you will have clearance issues. If its something you want and its only for a couple years, you might be better finding a used truck already done. If your truck is clean and stock, its easy to sell and you can buy a modified truck simular to yours with $5000 of mods for $2,500 or less. Just buy one done with the right stuff.

If you just want to pitch it in a couple years just make it simple and let it look good for the time being. I threw a leveling kit by Rancho with a new set of rsx9000's on my 03 Screw and put a 20X9 eagel wheel with 305X65X20 BFG's on cause I want to give it to my wife once I get a powerstroke.
Leveling kit......$95.95
4-RSX9000's....$297.87
4-20X9 Eagels..$580.00
4-305X65X20...$1320.00
Grand Total.....$2293.82
How many people that ask if I have 4" lift.......Priceless

fabtech lift

I have a 2000 f150 5.4 with the fabtech 7.5 inch lift, it did not cost an arm and a leg, i got 4 new wheels and a 7.5 inch fabtech lift from 4wheelparts for about $1400, about $1600 out the door i think. The ride is supurb for a lifted truck, it rides so nice, almost as nice as stock, its a really really good lift i would highly recommend it to you. You dont need traction bars, and i agree with the other boys, body lifts make the gaps very noticable and are for wanna bes, if you ever really want to have some fun off road, your gunna be really glad you got a suspension lift, not a body lift, id go with the fabtech 6" suspension lift (or higher if you want a massive truck), you wont be disappointed i almost gaurentee it. (Make sure you either know what you are doing, or get someone who knows what they are doing during the install though) youll like the lift, go with fabtech
i put 35" tires on it and they only rub if i am putting it through its paces
heres mine...

truck looks good, did you ever find out about that lift? 35's on a 7.5 shouldn't rub at all. looks like the camber on your fronts is a little off which can cause some uneven wear also , not bustin your ***** but just want to save ya some money later, truck looks good.

no i havent found out about the lift, im currently in australia, so i dont really have the means to call the 4wheelparts, and couldnt do anything about it anyway, and yeah the camber looks off, but its not, ive taken it 2 two reputable shops in my area, other than the one that i work at, and its all good, and dont worry, id rather someone point something out thats not wrong, than not point something out that is wrong , and the rub is not your usual rub, it is actually rubbing on the tread part of the tire, where the actual tread is, and it rubs when the springs are compressed in a turn, but yeah i was told they wouldnt rub, but, eh, its ok, its not all that bad and doesnt happen too often, and im gunna get baja fender flares when i get back state side anyhow, so, as they say here, no worries mate! but thanks for lookin out for the freshman users on here

Wrong.

Tires make clearance. The only way to get your axles up, is bigger tires. Sure suspension lifts are great but body lifts serve their purpose also. I got 35 on the 7.5 in stock rims and run them very hard off road and with about 420 hp with nitrous. Not safe, give me a break. Tell me you have run them harder and how they failed. I also ran them at 10 lbs on the dunes all the way up to drag racing them at full pressure on the track. Never been a problem. Also don't have to wrap headers because of heat issues, plenty of room for heat issues with body lift, plenty of room for true duel exhaust, getting to back plugs on engine much easier...ride stays stock no stability issues...wheel well rubber shrouds that come with kit look good and keep mud out of engine area...

3"body lift pluse 35's give 5" over stock...again suspensions lifts are great I plan on adding a Fabtech in the future but that doesn't mean that body lifts are for wanna bees, not to mention spent 200 for body lift kit versus 2000 for suspension... body lifts are great for the money.

Monster Buck...I second that, I wanted the 6" suspension lift.and had the funds to do it right, But opted for now to go with the 3" body lift and yes I got 2" more from a torsion key setup, I totally installed it all myself, and can take my truck anywhere anyone can take a suspension lift truck ..I'M SUPRISED THE WANNA BEE COMMENT EVEN CAME OUT on this sight, and Im sure it affended a lot of us and thats fine I have $1,600.00 left over to stick in my pocket..the Install of a suspension I can do, and If you want to spend the money get the suspension, But if done right a 2" or 3" body lift will look good.and it dont effect the ride at all from stock...huh..??? and yes Blah Im posting a pic to prove theres no gaps here and the ground clearence is awesome...and its a wanna bee 7.5" taller than stock truck ..the ruler dont lie!! 315/70R/17 with no trimming at all...
