What years did the Bronco come with a high pinion solid front Dana 44??
Hi there,
I'm new to the forum. I'm in the process of picking up an '89 Bronco in next few days if all pans out. My question about the Dana 44 actually has nothing to do with this purchase. I was looking to upgrade the front axle in my Jeep (my other off-road vehicle) and found a write up on a high pinion Dana 44 from a '79 Bronco. Were all '78 to ?? Broncos equipped with a high pinion front D44? Thanks for the help.
P.S. Any problems to watch out for in buying the '89???
JB

For the purposes of this forum, all '78-79 Broncos were equipped w/a live hp D44. I dunno when the EB's went to hp, but that's a different animal. 1980 debuted the TTB, an engineering spuck-up that Ford managed to maintain for 16 years. As for buying your '89 watch out for the TTB! (TTB=Twin Traction Beam=IFS from '80-96 on Ford 1/2t's).
