Curious as to how you would compare it. I know they are not really the same but it'd be fun to do anyway.

I'm seeing more and more and the thought of owning one again (I had an 03 Expy but it had no cargo room) keeps popping in my head.

Ken,

I had an '00 Excursion PSD 4X4, personally I loved it, but my wife said she would never own anything that rode that rough again. So we went to an '03 Expy EB 4X4 and loved everything about with the exception of cargo room. The fold-down 3rd seat helped compensate for the loss of room. Went to an '05 Expy EB 4X4 (2 yr lease) no change. Finally my dream come true, The '07 EL EB 4X4.

My '07 Expy rides so much better than my Excursion did. As far as interior room, I think the only difference is the Expy has a little less 2nd row legroom. The rear cargo area may actually be larger in the Expy (No inside spare). There are a lot more standard features and options available on the Expy.
The biggest downfall of the Expy is no diesel engine available (YET!) The '07 EL has plenty of power for the vehicle, but still is no comparason to a PSD. I'm actually getting 18.5 MPG highway which is very close to what my Excursion got. My '03 & '05 Expy's where lucky to get 16.5 on the highway.

We had a 05 Excursion with the gas V-8 .Now have a 07 expy el. I don't think the excursion can beat for loading up the family and leaving town. When we ran from hurricane Rita we had myself ,my wife , 3 kids ,our bird, and 2 large dogs . We drove for 8 hours with one small break after 61/2 hours, never had to stop for gas (which would not of been a good idea anyway because if they were selling it the line was long). And we were all comfortable for the entire ride .The expy is great around town, We are taking a trip in it soon as it fixed by Ford because of a transmission problem and will test the 4 wheel drive .
