On sat. morning I drove appx. 1/2 mi. parked, came out 5 min. later and started my 2001 F350 SD Diesel W/75,000 mi. and it was running rough and the SES light was on. I changed fuel filt. in the fall and maintain it well.
Pulled the code with my OTC Genisys and came up with P1316 Ignition Diagnostic Monitor Codes Detected.
My Alldata dosen't go to 2001 and I have no other info for this truck. I'm thinking I've got a injector gone bad.
Any one have any exp. with this that can guide me??
TIA
Tommy

that should probably be a 1316 code (IDM codes stored). Which could be anything from a contribution balance fault to a high/low open on one of the injectors. If you can do a BUZZ, KOEO and KOER with the Genisys it should return the IDM codes if it is capable of reading the powerstroke specific codes.
Mine did the exact same thing about two months.. It turned out to be the under the valve cover 9 pin connector was just loose..by almost a 1/4" gap.. Reset connector and made a shim to slip under the plastic locking tabs and it was fixed.. Removed the other valve cover and that connector was just about the same but still making contact.. Bad design..
here is a pic what I found.. loose.. (you can check it will a ohm meter before you pull the cover...)
