Shifter removal?????? 1960 4 Speed

I have to replace my clutch on my 60. I believe it has the t-98 4 speed tranny. I heard that I can remove the shifter from the tranny housing. If that is true, how do I do that? Thanks

You want to remove just the shift lever? There's a round cap on the lever under the rubber boot (if the boot is still there), it unscrews.

Then it just pulls straight out?

The cap unscrews, then the lever can come out. Why are you removing the lever??

I am replacing the clutch & it just seemed easier not to have that long old handle in the way. It sounds like you have removed clutches and tranny's and not removed the shifter. Is that correct?

There's a little pin at the base of the shifter, make sure you don't loose it.
