No experience with an 8-71 on a 400 but a friend of mine put a 6-71 on his. Too bad he had a 4 speed and a truck that was hard to keep on the road (79 1/2 ton lifted 12" with 44" STS tires). It pulled good, but every time it really started to pull, he had to shift....or let off the gas. Blew a head gasket though not too long afterwards. I think he was only running 8 lb. of boost max. But then again, he had it for looks. With two BG 750 carbs and the STOCK exhaust manifolds, it was more of a looker than an actual daily-driven truck.

It went like hell when it ran.

Thread back from the dead! This is something I'm going to try very very soon as I have lucked into a deal on a Dyers Blower for $1200. E85 will be a must for me as I am running Autotec pistons (1000773) with an engineering change to 1.71 for zero deck and with heads milled and cc'd to 73-74 it'll be close to 12:1 static. (18:1 with blower)
