Thumbs up Champion C46540 Portable Generator

MARTYSTOWRIG was wondering what kind of Portable Generator I have. So thought you all would like to have this info.

Here's a link to the RV Net Forums; Tech Issues, 3000 watt Chinese Gensets Info.

That is now 158 pages......I would start at 158 and read backward.
http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/15131645.cfm

I bought my Champion C46540 because of the info I found here...Note; that Champion has good parts & service...

The other Chinese Gensets cost about the same, but have NO parts or service.

I bought the first one set up for RV's (C46540) sold in WA. for under $300 bucks. Have about 10 hours on it and really like the unit.

I do not trust commission sales people. Besides, His claim was a 68 db 4KW gen. I only knew of 2 manufactures that was Dewalt and Honda. Actually the Dewalt is just a rebadged Honda. But he set me straight.

Sorry to say that is not a question you want to ask at RV World or Camping World or any sales people. All they want to do is sell you a Mega Buck Generator.....and will tell you the Chinese Gensets are a bad buy.....I know I asked....

I come to find out this was not true. The Forum I listed was about 3000 watt Chinese Gensets. Were they any good or just junk. Now this forum has been going on a long while. Some of the guys know there stuff.

Anyway, just thought this was some good info to pass on incase some wanted to get a Generator for back up. Without spending a lot of money.

My Champion is 3500 watts, 4000 peak Noise Level: 68 dB (from 7 meters) This is about right, sound wise. I don't have a metter. It's better than the 4000 w Onan in the motorhome. However the Onan is an 1984 model....BFA

MARTYSTOWRIG, if I said 4000, I am sorry. Should have said 3500. I still feel it a good deal for a standby Gen unit.
