I had a 95 4x4 6.5 TD and a friend had a 94. The 6.5 came with the 4L80E which is a pretty good transmission. Mine had 190K when my son-in-law took it; it had over 200K when the next guy took it. Same transmission with just a flush every 30K IIRC. Friends 04 had similiar mileage on original tranny too. We both had one of the first 'chips' available from BD. We both towed TT's and the 94 towed a large 'rolling radio' trailer for local radio station several times a week.

Injection pump by Stanadyne, now that is another story....
Later model blocks with oil cooled pistons; main web brg cracks, another story....

But the 4L80E is a good tranny; basically a turbo-hydromatic 400 with OD and electric solenoids for shifts.....

I dont have a link, as you well know, prove to us that there were not thousands bought back. ITS common knowledge that the 6.0 was a problem from the start. I will gladly admit they got much better in 05 &06 but that still dosesnt make the way those of us with problems got treated by ford. that is what the whole battle beween ford and navistar is all about so there no reason to act like they are great engines. they were not tested and they rushed them to market and it cost them in market share.

Based on the ever increasing posters who have ACTUALLY bought one and have ACTUAL real world experience both pulling and empty your assumptions that this motor will have oh so many problems seems to be looking farther and farther from the truth with each passing day.

Always amazes me how many people who don't own one of these seem to think they have the absolute most knowledge of the truck with no seat time in the truck.......

LMAO! Sounds kind of like "I said there is a hole in the ozone, but I can't prove it, you prove that there is not a hole in the ozone."

Yep, the tranny was the only good part of those trucks, Flushed it one time in 380,000 miles and it (the tranny and motor) was running great when I sold it!! That being said GM had nothing to do with that!! That was the only GM Auto tranny that ever got over 40,000 miles on!!

I dont know exactly how many were bought back but, automotive news, august 25 2003 says that as of that date ford had bought back 500 and recalled the first 66,720 trucks and that was in 2003. the link is www.autosafety.org/article.php?did=834&scid=93 and everyone knows there were a bunch of buybacks in 2004. and you know ford will never admit to all the buybacks. I just got mine back out of the shop today 3rd egr valve and 3rd ICP sensor and wiring harness and recall 06e17 and recall 59b01 seems to running good now. It has been a good truck only been in the shop 23 times got 46,990 miles on it. On a brighter note my mech. says my trucks pulls better then any 6.0 he has ever worked on , and its bone stock.
