has anybody put 3/4 ton springs in a 1/2 ton ? im looking for a smidge of lift and a fermer ride .. but will it throw off my caster camber ??? i figured it i would have to.. i could lop off a coil or 2 of the 3/4 springs as to make them shorter but this would difently harshen the ride ... anyones feed back would be great ... russ
You should have about the same ride heigth given the springs are from a V-8 truck going into a V-8 truck.
Most of the weight of a 3/4 vs 1/2 is on the rear springs.
On both the 68 CS (6900 GVW) with new springs I added years ago for the 69 road racer project to the 70 CS (7500 GVW) they both are .700" in diameter.
From the flat area inside the top spring support to the bottom spring support washer (spring length) is 11 3/4". This is with the low tower as later trucks had a high tower. Low tower 8 3/4 turns, high tower 11 IIRC (CRS?)
Both with FE motors.
On the rear of your truck I would add another one of the second longest springs, you don't want to get into adding a 3/4 ton Flex-O-Matic can of worms.
