1963 F100 292,T98A,4x2 57 short bed--what is it worth??
I have the opportunity to buy a 1963 F100 with the 292 and T98A four speed and the short box 1957 styleside bed. It has already been restored with new factory color of Holly Green--exterior and interior. The truck was apparently painted after the glass and trim was removed and the paint is near perfect. The rubber glass gaskets look to be new. The engine bay and engine is in still factory condition--the engine has most of the original engine block paint gone--but the valve cover paint is still there. And it has the original factory oil bath air cleaner. The engine has 40 PSI of oil pressure at warm idle. And it sounds like a very healthy Y block. The T98A transmission is covered in oil.The 9 inch axle has a 3.89 open differential. The truck only leaks from the transmission when parked.
The truck has a perfect interior and original seat covering untorn. It has Ford emblemed factory 16 inch wheels and 235/85 x 16 new tires. The original radio still works and it has oil pressure and ampere gauges installed cleanly in the nacelles on each side of the speedometer. All of the screwheads on the inside of the doors were removed before the doors were painted. No rust apparent. The new paint looks like it is wet. No runs!!The steering wheel has no excessive play in it.It is a non Custom Cab with white painted grill and bumper and no chrome around the windows.
The only down side is that the original factory steps were apparenty rusted before the restoration and have been overlayed with straight steel. And there is a horizonal scatch on the passenger side door--that is the width of the door. And the trailing opening of the passenger side front fender is bent back somewhat--but hardly noticeable. The truck has been in the garage for the last 7 years since the restoration. The bed has been also painted and there is minimum amount of small dents in the bed and wheel wells.
l
They originally wanted 6000. I offered 4000. They counteroffered 5500. I offered 4500.
Is this truck worth 5000.00?? You guys are the experts--tell me what you think. It sure is a pretty truck!

Check out mine . I got it for $4000.00 and put $1800.00 into it in parts to get it where it is. Use it for a sample. Best offer on mine to date is $22000.00. But it's not for sale. Hope this helps. Had to think hard before giving this much info on my UNI. Keep in mind that there is a lot of labor in it that I can't put a price on.

I would pass unless you are in love with the truck.Look for 65 or 66,you will get more truck for that kind of money. The twin I beam set up makes for a much easier truck to upgrade to power steering and disc brakes. There are many more motor options available for the newer trucks. That being said if you like the truck and you have the money ..go for it.Best of luck.

If you feel good about it, then it's worth it. However, I agree that a 65 or 66 gets you more truck for the money. I picked up a 66 F100 Longbed Custom Cab with 0 rust, no body damage, 352, C6, deluxe dash with all the gauges for $1000. The 65 or 66 is much easier for swapping engines, disc brakes, etc. If the paint is as good as you say I'd say you're pretty close on the price. Paint and body is EXPENSIVE!!!! Good luck.

This is one of the oldest threads brought back to life by a newbie. Just to say he's looking for a truck.
Check the classifieds, search Craigslist and look at ebay.
In the classified section there is a place for you to post what you want.
Start a thread with what you hope to find, and maybe someone can help you.
When you bring back the dead you might not get the response your looking for.
