Im planning on lifting the truck roughly 2 inchs by the end of the summer to run 33s without rubbing.

I was debating add-a-leafs in the back, and new springs up front

I feel like im missing something, is this it or what?

well depends is this your daily driver// weekend off roader .. or what??? if i was you.. i would go through... www.roughcountry.com and get the 2.5" lift.. its like $300 and you get everything.... so the whole suspension is premo... thats wat i did on one of my trucks... rides awesome 2...

 

A leveling kit (front only) should be enough, but the front end may be difficult to align with that, so a 2.5" suspension kit is definitely better. Note, you also need ~10" wide wheels for 33x12.50. If you don't 'flex' the vehicle too much, some bumper spacing and 10" wide wheels may be enough.

I can personally assure you that a 2.5" Rough Country lift will not clear true 33s...only 32s. I have this lift on my truck, and I bought 33x12.5/15 BFG MTs. With the front bumper on the truck would not even roll...the front tires were pushing hard on the front fender. I fabbed up about a 2 inch spacer to give more clearance for the bumper temporarily. This worked well, but looked bad and somewhat like a body lift from the right angle. As quickly as possible, I made my own bumper that doesn't wrap around near as far as the stock one, so the tires clear completely, even under flex. I have pics in my gallery with the stock shimmed out bumper, no bumper, and my home-made bumper.

 

I've seen stock 80-91 model trucks clear 33s, but the 92-96s need alittle more, so if you cut the part of the bumper that wraps around with a 2" lift it should work fine.

No offens to rough country, but I would not use their shocks. You don't save much useing them, and if you get them, you'll have to pay even more for something better like the Skyjacker Nitros.

 

i dunno my 84 f-150 .... with no lift cleared .. 32x10.50's .. and i cut 3 inches off the front fenders... and ran ... 35's for the longest time.... if its a beater... cut the fenders... we cut 4.5 inches off my buddys 83 bronco... and hes got... 38.5's on it that dont rub... anything but the radius.. arms... when you turn to sharp

 

If you’re building a road warrior the best thing to do for your pocket book is buy a body-lift. It’ll give you the same amount of lift as a suspension lift and it’s often a lot cheaper. A 3" body lift will clear 33's on the 92-96 gen F-150. And more often than not a good kit will come with Gap guards and bumper risers. If you are absolutely set on a suspension lift one of the best brands out right now is Rough Country. Speaking from experience a RC kit’s mounting brackets are made of thicker metal and springs have more flex than most in the industry. Their kits are simple to install and the instructions are easy to read. I believe that the only set back of their kits are the shocks just like MBBFord said.

Even though I’ve build my truck to be a trail rig a Body-Lift is actually one of the next projects I have lined up. I already have a 4'’RC Suspension Lift and need a bit more clearance for the body. I’ve acquired more body damage than I’d like.

 

Your suggesting a body lift....

No offense, but the Rough Country lift kits are far from the best quality kit out there. Their coil springs don't flex to good, tend to sag over a couple years, and are rough. Their shocks suck, ect....
Tough Country is basically the same, but they have a adjustment to help correct the tire in \--/ look after a lift on a TTB suspension, they are alittle better designed.

Skyjacker is alot better, supper lift is just alittle better than TC, Ranch is also a very good lift, but they don't have alot of choices for older models.

 

Turns out im pretty sure the trucks already lifted (2ish in.). So the plans gonna be to leave it as is and towards the end of the summer put on new 33s and new shocks.
