soot at turbo boot

I opened up my hood today at lunch & noticed a trace of black soot around the turbo boot (left side). Is this normal, and if not, what can I do? Hopefully it’s just a matter of tightening them up, but I’ll leave it to those of you who know more than me to lead me down the right path.

Thanks All,

Peter

If you are talking about the boots between the intercooler and the turbo it is normal per ford design, They vented the CCV into the intake.

This can lead to boost leaks so cleaning and tightening them is helpfull. Also the CCV mod can help eliminate the problem

Peter:

I found the same stuff on my engine in the same place. Haven'done the CCV yet, but will very soon. I also found a couple of the boots just a wee tad short of being "tight". Just tightened them this past weekend. Won't be able to tell if it fixes my problem until I clean off the engine... again, soon.

I recall seeing a link to the CCV Mod. I searched, but I can't seem to find it. Anyone out there have it??

Thanks,
Peter
