Get what you like, You can do mods to any of trucks to get the desired outcome. Of course we are going to choose our own rides, why wouldn't we?
Some may be more popular than others but that doesn't mean the are not special in their own right.

Thanks Bigwin, and all you guys/gals out there for your support.Flash--is too busy nit-picking at terminology and must be misusing his meds again!!!haha--I agree with Bigwin and know the 57-60 yrs were prone to rust in areas he mentioned.I just don't have any interest in the ''orphan yr.Mercury trucks --but if I saw a nice one would compliment the owner-or builder. Some guys like to criticize, and make problems -I like to solve problems. That is the last I will say on this subject.PEACE /LOVE!!!!!haha

I have a 56 fat fender truck that I love the bodystyle. I like the 57 truck too. If I was looking at a classic truck as a possible dailly driver, it would be a 65 or 66(or 78-79)! They have the Twin I-beams and can be updated with power steering, power disk brakes, tilt wheel, modern seats, and the engines choices include a 300, 302, 351, 352/390, 400, 429m and 460. All of those are bolt-in items. As a stepside on a Slick 60, forget it, they are UGLY! These are my opinions and worth exactly that. I have crossed the age line of this forum, but you asked.

All the 1978/79's had power disk brakes, most had power steering. V8 Engine choices were a 302, 351M/400 and a 460. Tilt wheels were first available as an option in 1978. JMO, but the early "Flaresides" (stepsides are ...horrors..Chevrolets!) that have "the look" are the 1948-56 models.

The only thing that is happening here is the same amoral mentality that got a setting President Impeached over the meaning of a word, believing he could say or do anything he pleased & not believing he could be held accountable for his actions.
Then on top of it, you believe that gives you a right to insult someone that has not taken that same road, hmm, go figure.
As for "Nit Picking", I seriously doubt you know what one is w/o looking it up, let alone how to actually pick one.

So which did you decide on????? Or have you?
Seems some people got quite worked up over the question..........everyone has an opinion, likes and/or dislikes.....doesn't mean they are right or wrong just have an opinion to express. That is one of the good things about "free speech".......... but I beleive you do not have to resort to personal attacks, IMHO, just because you do not agree with someone.
