You need a chip or programmer that will boost up your fuel to the motor.Thats what makes it smoke like that.
They have them with like 3 HP settings pulse you can run the stock tune whenever you want with the flip of a switch.

I don't know. Sounds like some kind of fuel tank back there for extra weight on the rear.

The smoke is coming from making power. They don't smoke just for show.

Someone might come along here that can help you or do a search for some truck pulling sites.

I attend about 20 tractor/truck pulls every summer and I have never seen a tank with lines going into the stacks, not saying I don't believe you I'm just saying I have never seen it.
The only tanks I have seen guys use is propane tanks for propane injection.
As far as the smoke goes, you have to dump more fuel into your motor. You are going to need a programmer to do this.
The old 12v cummins (mechanical fuel pump) is just a matter of turning up the fuel pump, but since I'm assuming you have a newer PSD, you will need a programmer bc yours is all electronic.

If you still can't figure out what the tank and lines are for, just ask the guy that is using them.

Are you sure they where running into the stacks? I love the pulling crowd and im looking into doing a show this summer saying i dont start college till later now. Ive seen some trucks with tanks in the back. One looks like a bbq tank and that is the Propane injection. The second is either methinol injection or Boost cool? Not sure on it. One guy had a straight up cooler with two hoses running out of it going towards the front. Anything to help cool the motors the better. Im still kind of new to the pulling stuff, but im pretty sure the warmer the fuel and the cooler the motor= more power. Correct me if im wrong.

There are several options if you want to smoke as much as the pullin trucks do. Some of those guys are running water injection. This may sound weird bc why would you want to put water in your motor. It is actually very effective because the water helps cool the motor but it also changes to steam which equals lots more power. Water injection is not something you would run on the street, but you don't necessarily have to use it while on the street. You could just use it in the pulls.

Other guys are running propane and methanol injection. These will both produce lots more power but I am not sure about the smoke with these setups.
