Okay guys,

Just got back from a short trip - about 500 miles round trip - with the 10K fifth wheel. Got 10-10.5 mpg going, 8.5 coming back. Mileage empty has gone from 14-16 down to 9-10 and up to 12-13. All filters and fluids changed, EBP sensor and tube cleaned.

Could the IPR on the HPOP be the issue? Could it be sticking or performing intermittently in ways that would affect mileage. Truck seems to run fine and have plenty of power. Occassionally seems to be little louder or rougher than at other times. If it is the IPR, where is the best place to get one? I looked at the repair/service directions and am not sure I want to tackle that.

My guess would be the crappy ulsd. My truck has been erratic also. When we had a cold spell after fueling and adding anti gel my fuel still gelled. Sometimes it's louder than others. I've been adding up to a quart of Diesel Kleen per tank, makes a noticeable difference in noise and mileage.

 

Darn! I was hoping it was something I could fix. I've been adding DK, but not quite that much, watching where I buy fuel, some places are really bad. And lately I've added the Howe's instead of the DK. First couple of tanks it seemed to really help.

That ULSD is really costing me money. Gonna drive my old gasser around town and save the truck for towing and trips I guess.

 

THAT STUPID ULSD. It gelled my fuel even with additives. I think exxon mobile owes me an injector..haha.

 

The fuel that gelled on me was from BP and I put in 2/3 qt of white bottle DK. I have single shot injectors that are louder anyway, without additive it sounds like it is going to come apart.

 

Yeah, same here on the mileage. I figured just above 10mpg on my fillup today. Crappy ULSD and lots of idling and warming up. It doesn't help that I drive with lead boots either. I just don't get to hear my exhaust every day so I sometimes find an excuse to go somewhere.

 

Probably the fuel, but I recall amiller93 gained economy back when he replaced his MAP.

Yeah, I forgot that one - I also replaced my MAP got a mile or two per gallon back. But other than that, mileage is in the toilet.

 

I just dont see the IPR effecting mileage without a seriously rough running truck.

 

I filled up yesterday at 12.89 mi/gal. When I first purchased the truck in May of last I was getting 15-16 bone stock. Now with winter blend after determining that I had a boost leak, I have been 13.5 with winter ULSD. I even purchased AE to do some testing and found that my MAP was fine with no problems.

 

Have been getting 14 mpg around town on my 99.5 7.3. Just got back from a 200 mile pull with 5th wheel and got 10 mpg. This fuel stinks.....for sure...

Thanks for the feedback. Truck is running great. Made a 125 mile highway trip today and everything is good - EGTs, boost, power on the highway, etc. I guess its just the fuel but it seems like my truck has taken a bit more dive on mileage than some are reporting. Oh well - I always get the slowest check out line at the store, too. Guess that's life.

We went from one Wal Mart to two Super Waly Worlds in our town. One's good two should be better? What a joke slowest worst customer service I've ever seen! They run everyone else out of business and their prices suck. DK is $2 a jug higher than most anywhere else. Don't even ask about their groceries. Can you tell I hate big business?

We had three juveniles steal an F 250 4X4 from our third Wally World. They're getting stolen all over Houston. When these morons tried to get away the police pulled up and blocked all the driveways. They put the truck in 4 wheel drive and did the Monster Truck show right over the front end of one of the police cars-totaled the car. The officer told me he was going to get out and shoot'em but he couldn't get his door open. They did get caught but we got a good laugh out of them driving over the car.

The only thing I forgot to ask them was - what did that do to their mileage?
