gas pump cut me off at $50!!!???

I'm just complaining......lol

I never had this happen before.......checking gas mileage.....on both tanks. So, I ran them down pretty good before going in to get gas. On the way back from the dump yesterday I stopped at one of the local Sunoco stations to fill up. I used my debit card.......cause I hate going in twice......filled the front tank ....it took 13.5 even though it said almost empty......then started the rear and was writing the front info in my little book. When I got out....the pump had stopped at $50.........leaving the rear tank reading 3/4.
I did go in and get a diet coke and asked the girl about it.........of course she didn't know why it did it...lol

I'll have to fill up again friday before heading north anyway......but now I'm wondering if other stations do this too.
Oh yeh....there was more than $50 in my account too....hehehe

It has to do with your debit card. I had it happen to me and i found out that it was a limit that my bank had on my card. I called the bank and they took care of it.

Dunno about debit cards, but use a credit card in CA, and the pumps shut off (originally at $50.00) at $60.00. Once the pump shuts off, you have to repeat the whole process again to keep filling the tank..a PITA.

That happens when filling Trigger up too.... Now, I make sure I find a pump that's as close to the gas station's front doors (so they can see me and my Tag), or Have them make a prepay on my credit/debt card for about 100bux. It usually jus' forces them to turn the pump on w/out ringin it up. No gas station attendants like refunding credit card pruchases...they would rather you just fill-up and go about your buisness...

Exclamation

If you go to any SPinx stations they all cut off at 50$ for Credit Card and 35$ for debit card, if you go to Phillips 66 they cut off at 50$ for debit and 75$ for credit card. I checked with both corporate offices and their thinking is that it protects them from fraud.....I don't know about that but when I am filling up a 38gallon primary and a 100gallon secondary I don't want to be stopping at 50 and passing the card over and over and over , you get the picture.....
