i have a 94 explorer, automatic, 4x4. when driving it does not shift. rpms continue to climb. if you let off gas and then back on it shifts. also when going up gradual incline it downshifts and the rpms rise. i changed the tranny filter. i also removed the vacuum diaphragm hose and fluid ran out. if anyone has any ideas of the cause or problem i would appreciate it. thank you
But, it's far easier (and less likely to result in peripheral damage) to remove the passenger seat and center console, peel the carpet back, and go in through the access plate (where a manual stick would go).
well i changed the modulator with no help. one thing i noticed when i took it for a test drive. the first time it needed to shift i had to let off the gas to get it to shift but then next time it needed to shift as the speed increased it did so smoothly. if that means anything to anybody. once again thanks for the help
It seems the the governer on the A4LD is known to "stick" causing delayed shifting like you're experiencing. I don't know the specifics, but I'm sure there is information out there about removing and cleaning the governer.
